Any time I see friends posting travel selfies in wild and beautiful locations, I feel a small twinge of remorse. There are three reasons:
1. I rarely like photos of myself and prefer taking photos without people in them, including me. I also assume that if I’m taking a photo of something majestic I should get out of focus so people can see it, you know?
2. I have just recently embraced the whole selfie thing, but still do not like having someone watching me primp and pose my face and fake smile at an electronic device.
3. When traveling, I prefer to try to fit in and act like an unimpressed local, so you won’t catch me holding a big stick up in the air. No, not usually.
Anyways, I have on many occasions asked a friend to snap a photo of me, but most have not surfaced. So I’ve done some digging (and cropping) to piece together a little visual reminder to myself that I HAVE been places and I’m still going places and from now on when I get there, to take a damn selfie.
